Arc De Triomphe Contenders 2011 - Nathaniel

Nathaniel is perhaps the most interesting of all the Arc De Triomphe Runners this season having been supplemented for the race following a brilliant season so far. When the Arc entries closed Nathaniel had not even won his maiden but such is his brilliant rise that he is now one of the leading contenders in the Arc Betting. The John Gosden trained three-year-old had form behind Frankel last season which as it turns out was a fantastic run, and he has conformed that potential this season with a series of impressive runs.

He won his maiden at Haydock back in April before running with credit behind Treasure Beach in the Chester Vase in May, that again turned out to be an excellent run but connections decided to swerve the Derby for a run at Ascot. It turned out to be right decision with Nathaniel winning the King Edward VII Stakes at the Royal meeting in some style and the decision was made to step him up in class for the King George also at Ascot. The King George was a massive step up in class for Nathaniel but he duly won the race in style beating the likes of 2010 Arc winner Workforce and St Nicholas Abbey in the process.

The King George win for Nathaniel was something of a surprise in such classy company but he is clearly highly progressive and as such connections have decided to supplement him at a high price to run in the Arc. That alone tells us that connections are confident of a good run at Longchamp and that is reflected in his latest price for the big race, he looks to have every chance of running a massive race as he continues to improve.
