Prix de Cadran

Is the big stayer’s race at Longchamp which is run over a distance of 2½ miles and is for 4 year olds and above. It is the French version of the Ascot Gold cup and fittingly, the four time winner of the Ascot Gold Cup, Yeats will be taking part in this race, which his trainer, Aidan O’Brien, says will be his last.

Yeats will be trying to emulate the great Sagaro, who won the Ascot Gold Cup three times and until Yeats won his fourth this year, was regarded by most as the greatest stayer ever. Should Yeats win this that honour will surely go to him.

The betting says Yeats should win, he is currently the favourite, but he has some tough opposition in the form of Kasbah Bliss, Pointilliste, Alandi and several others. In fact the race promises to be a very close thing and could be every bit as exciting as the Arc itself.

Prix du Cadran Tip

YEATS can bring down the curtain on his six year racing career with his eighth Group One win in what would be a fitting and emotional farewell to this legend.
