The Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp gets the day off to a flying start in every sense of the term. It is raced over five furlongs and is contested by thoroughbred Colts and Fillies aged two years or older.
It was brought in at Longchamp in 1957 to celebrate a century of racing at and during that time it has been upgraded from what was a Group 2 to a Group 1. It was won in 2008 by the Freddie Head trained Marchand d’Or
Favourite for this year’s race is likely to be the Jeremy Noseda trained, Fleeting Spirit, winner of the July Cup, but to win he will have plenty of top class opposition, including sprinters of the calibre of Borderlescott, Tax free and War Artist.
