Arc De Triomphe Contenders 2011 - Reliable Man

We have another major Arc contender from the classic generation in Reliable Man who has shown some blistering form in France this season for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre. Reliable Man has won four of his five starts with perhaps his most famous win to date coming back in June at Chantilly when he won the Group 1 Prix Du Jockey Club. It is also worth noting that Reliable Man has had two runs at Longchamp this season which should stand him in good stead for his run at the Arc.

Following on from his win the Prix du Jockey Club, reliable went into the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp as the warm favourite but he ran below his best to finish third behind Meandre and Seville. That run was a disappointment but he bounced back last time out to reverse the form with Meandre on Arc Trials day, he simply hosed up to win the Prix Niel which was a return to form albeit in Group 2 company.

That win in the Prix Niel was highly impressive and he seems to be an progressive type making him one for the shortlist despite the fact he will need to improve again in Arc company.
