Arc De Triomphe Betting Tips

As the Arc De Triomphe comes at the end of the season the first Arc De Triomphe betting tip is to consider horses that have been targeted at this race as those who have been on the go all season tend to come up short in the feature race. Below is a preview of all the major races at the Arc De Triomphe meeting at Longchamp.

2008 Arc De Triomphe Tip

The tip for 2008 Arc De Triomphe is to back Zarkava, she may be the favourite but she is the favourite for a reason and if she is anywhere close to the kind of ability she has shown in her previous six winning starts she will have the Colts behind come the winning post. Come Sunday, plenty of British Bookmakers will be happy to take her on in the betting, allowing you to get a good price, anything at 2/1 or above would represent excellent value.

Zarkava has one or two questions to answer if she is to win th Arc, namely, the form or fillies in the race, with the last one coming back in 1993 and also the fact she has never raced against Colts so far in her career, however, her ability is in no doubt and she should be able to buck any trends that are against her. The main dangers in the race include the Aiden O'Brien pair, Duke of Marmalade and Soldier of Fortune, with the former feared as the bigger threat. Duke of Marmalade has had an exceptional season, landing five Group Ones across Europe and will no doubt be laying down a strong challenge come the final furlong. Vision D'Etat is a French horse in great form and could well be a danger at a price whilst, Youmzain, who finished second in last year's races is the best of the British contingent and could be a good each way bet.

Prix de L'Abbaye Tip

The tip in the Prix de L'Abbaye is for the French horse, Marchand D'or. The Freddie Head trained sprinter has had a fantastic season with two Group one wins already to his name, including the July Cup at Newmarket. His form when beating African Rose last time out was franked when she won the Ladbrokes Sprint in September.

Borderlescott and Equiano represent the best bet from the British runners and neither can be ruled out of at least making a place whislt the unknown quantity in the race comes in the form of South African Raider, Overdose, who could be anything.

Prix Marcel Boussac Tip

The Marcel Boussac tip is for Elusive Wave, a French Filly that has looked very exciting in her three winning career starts. The Jean Claude Rouget filly has improved with every run this season and further imrpovement can be expected at Longchamp. Two alternatives come in the form of the Irish pair, Maoineach, trained by Jim Bolger and David Wachman's Again, both have shown excellent potential in Ireland and should both run a big race.

Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Tip

With Aiden O'Brien boasting a 60 percent strike rate in this race over the past ten years it would be foolish to ignore his runners in this race. O'Brien has had a record breaking season even by his own standards and this is another Group One he should be able to add to his ever growing list of 2008 successes. Of several entries in the race, it is Mastercraftsman and Rip Van Winkle who are the two to concerntrate on, both of whom look to be the pick of this star studded stable's two year olds. Whichever of the two he opts to run in the race is the one to back whilst, if both go to post, preference would be for Mastercraftsman. Already favourite for next year's 2000 Guineas, this Colt looks like another exciting prospect out of the top drawer of an ever growing line of Danehill Dancer progeny, with Sunday's trip more likely to suit. Rip Van Winkle is by Galileo so should appreciate further over time and is certianly one to keep an eye on for the top middle distance races in 2009.

Prix De L'Opera Tip

This race looks a facinating spectacle in which several familair names from this season's top raes look likely to feature. Luch lashes is the pick on form and if she is anywhere close to the form she has shown when winning three Group Ones already this season she will have any challenegers on the ropes nearing the line.
