2007 Arc De Triomphe Winner

2007 Arc De Triomphe Winner

The 2007 Arc winner was the Aiden O\'Brien trained Dylan Thomas ridden by Kieran Fallon and while the race went to the Stewards he got the verdict over Youmzain trained by Mick Channon.

That the stewards had to make a close call but decided not to change the result. The tough Dylan Thomas was a deserved winner and was having his eighth race of the season, seven of which have been at the highest level, and five of which he has now won, while he finished runner-up on the other three occasions.

With ground softer than ideal, he was settled towards the rear and was always travelling sweetly before making headway over 2f out. He took up the running over 1f from home, before drifting right when he came under pressure, an incident which looked to inconvenience Soldier Of Fortune and Zambezi Sun.

Irish Derby winner Soldier Of Fortune had been campaigned with this race in mind for him some time. His jockey got first run on them at the top of the straight, although it looked unlikely that he would add to the fantastic record of Prix Niel winners in this race even before the scrimmaging. The race may have come a bit too quick for him, and he is another who will remain in training as a four-year-old.

Where as Dylan Thomas\'s career looks to have finished with a bang, the racing days of Derby hero Authorized came to an end with a whimper. He was always in the rear, with connections seemingly at a loss to explain what went wrong.
